WORCESTER, MA- On April 26, 2009 firefighters responded to calls reporting a fire in a vacant house at 56 Swan Avenue in the Southwest corner of the city. Officer Barbale of the Worcester Police arrived on scene to find the vacant house well involved. First arriving companies stretched big lines and hit the fire from outside. Command had all companies stay out of the building and hit it from outside. The fire was held at the first alarm. The heavy fire that consumed a good portion of the house was knocked down within 15 minuets of the fire department's arrival. Once the heavy fire was knocked down companies went inside for overhauling operations. The fire is under investigation by Worcester Police and Fire Arson Squads.
