Around 8am Saturday October 24 air traffic controllers reported a small Mooney aircraft had crashed just off the runway at Worcester Airport.
The plane was found in the woods just off of Coppage Drive. Firefighters had to get portable extrication tools to cut the pilot, the only soul on board out of the aircraft. He was quickly removed from the wreckage and transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
Crews remained on scene while federal investigators combed though the wreckage.
It has been learned though the media that the pilot has perished as a result of his injuries.
