Worcester firefighters were called to a house on Wayne Street for a report of a building fire around 10:30 on Friday January 14th.

First arriving crews had heavy fire showing from the rear porches of the wood frame dwelling.

Companies started an aggressive interior attic however the wind driven fire took hold of the top floor and attic causing firefighters to evacuate the building.

Additional alarms were sounded as below zero windchills played a major part in the difficulties in extinguishing the fire.

An incident rehabilitation truck from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services was on scene as a warming station for cold, weary firefighters. Worcester Box 4 canteen also responded to assist firefighters.
