Around 2pm Worcester dispatchers started to receive calls for a building fire at 26 Oxford in the Crown Hill section of the city.
Companies arrived to find smoke showing from the wood frame dwelling. There was fire in the rear of the building. The fire appeared to start near the electrical service.
Companies reported hording conditions in the house. The fire was knocked down quickly and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters were able to remove some birds from the house.
Also in this gallery are photos of the crew of Rescue 1. The senior man, Firefighter Bob O’Connor of the rescue retired today after about 40 years on the job. This was Bob’s last fire of his career. It is customary of the fire service to get a group photo with the company at the last “job”.
