August 29th- Worcester Firefighters responded to a fire at 16 Grosvenor Street about 1:30am. First arriving companies from South Division had a working fire on arrival. Ladder 3 started setting up to vent the roof. While they were setting up they were told there was an occupant that escaped thru a second floor window and was out on the roof. The crew of Ladder 3 consisting of Lt Bill Dowd along with firefighters Ronald Wylie and Dan Gagne elevated the bucket quickly and brought the victim to safety.

A second alarm was sounded as heavy fire started to vent from the building. Crews made an aggressive interior attack while ladders 3 and 1 vented the roof.

Box 4 canteen responded to the fire to provide refreshments. The Red Cross was called to assist with the displaced residents.

It was learned there was an illegal apartment in the house which city officials investigated after the fire.
