Members of Leicester Fire and EMS worked feverishly to extricate a victim pinned in an automobile after a collision with another car on route 56.

The crash occurred between King and Clark Streets around 7am.

One of the occupants was transported with non life threatening injuries, the operator of the other vehicle was heavily entrapped. It took some time for firefighters to work with hydraulic tools to remove the victim.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene, however the Lifeflight crew decided to transport in the ambulance to the hospital.

Despite the quick work of the Leicester crews the operator of the other vehicle passed away due to his injuries
