Worcester firefighters worked this smokey 4 alarm blaze on Tuesday August 18th at 1094 Main Street. The commercial building also referred to as a taxpayer was well involved in fire before companies from Webster Square firehouse arrived. The Webster Square firehouse is literally a stone’s throw away.

Companies fought the fire from the exterior due to the fact the fire had such a head start. The structural integrity of the building had been compromised quickly.

The fire would reach 4 alarms before being brought under control. Mutual aid was brought in to cover empty firehouses. Those same companies also responded to a report of a structure fire on Jacques Avenue while the fire on Main Street was brought under control. It ended up being a small kitchen fire that was under control as companies arrived. One person suffered serious burns.

The building on Main Street was demolished as it was deemed a safety hazard.
