I was privileged enough to accompany my fellow photographers from the Connecticut Fire Photographer’s Association on a field trip to New Jersey on May 4th. We got to tour the PL Custom/ Rescue 1 plant in Manasquan for a few hours and see how ambulances, rescues and other specialty vehicles are built from the ground up. We also had apparatus shoots laid out by Chris (DOC) Denton in Asbury Park, Fair Haven and Long Branch. The weather wasn’t the greatest but all in all we had a great time. Got to see a lot of apparatus I’ve never seen before including a couple of quads in Fair Haven. And of course not even a wisp of smoke while we were down there! Go figure!
