Shortly before 6pm on March 24th Dudley firefighters were called to the area of Schofield Ave and Brandon Road for reports of smoke coming from a house.
As soon as Dudley firefighters left the station they could see a large column of smoke.
They then started to receive calls of people trapped in the building. They struck a second alarm while still enroute.
Once on arrival firefighters were faced with heavy fire showing from the residence.
An off duty police officer and off duty fire fighter/ photographer had rushed into the burning house to rescue a tenant. She received serious injuries. She is believed to be in stable condition.
At the onset of the fire there were unconfirmed reports of kids trapped however that proved to be false.
A dog had perished in the fire.
Firefighters from the area made a tremendous stop considering the head start the fire had before they even arrived.
