Leicester firefighters responded to Town Beach Rd for a report of a structure fire.
The caller called back and reported the stove was on fire.
Chief Wilson arrived and found a fire in the apartment. He then closed the door to control the fire until the first engine arrived and put the first line in operation.
The fire was knocked down quickly and it was contained to the apartment of origin.
There were no injuries reported.
This was Chief Wilson's last fire of his 46 year career.
