Charlton Fire responded to the Mass Pike East bound outside the rest area for a single car mva.
Mass State Police arrived first and found numerous patients. One of which, was pinned in the car.
Charlton was already tied up on ambulance runs. Mutual aid ambulances were called from Sturbridge, Southbridge and Auburn. Lifeflight was also requested to the scene.
Command called for a heavy rescue out of Auburn. Multiple tools from Charlton and Auburn went to work removing the car from the driver.
The pike East was closed down while life flight was on the ground. Extrication time was a little over an hour.
