Here is a small gallery from the last shift for Worcester EMS Paramedics John Bain and Mike Laporte.
They will still be working their full time fire department jobs.
This is the second Worcester EMS last shift I have photographed. There is a tradition in Worcester EMS than when a medic retires they cut the patch off the members shirt, while they are still wearing it. The member then signs it and puts their badge number on it and it is hung with other past members patches.
They’ve been known to get a little over zealous and cut off more than the patches lol.
Also Worcester EMS being one of the few agencies in the city that still wears leather coats have a tradition of passing down their coats when they retire to the other members.
I can’t thank everyone enough that helped me shoot this. I am so glad I could be there. Everyone at Worcester EMS has made me feel like an extended part of the family over the years.
Congratulations boys! You left the job better than you found it!
