On Saturday April 25th a group of friends accompanied me down to New York City for the annual NYPD Retired Emergency Man’s Remembrance Day at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.
The event showcases all the different equipment used by ESU. The highlight of the day is a demonstration put on by ESU and aviation unit.
ESU rappels from a helicopter to tend to a victim. The helicopter then makes a loop around the area. The victim is stabilized and packaged for lift to the helicopter. The helicopter then comes back around to hoist the victim to safety. Then the lenco bearcat comes and picks up the ESU members.
