Spencer firefighters along with numerous area departments fought a fire on East Avenue on Sunday December 22nd.

This day was particularly cold out. One of the colder days of the season so far.

One dwelling was already well involved on arrival and extending to adjoining dwellings.

Exploding fireworks and venting propane tanks added another degree of difficulty to the firefighting efforts.

There were no hydrants in the remote area of town near the Paxton line so a tanker shuttle was established. Portable pumps were also brought down to the waters edge of Thompson Pond behind the houses for additional water supply.

The fire quickly spread to the B side exposure which then started to break thru the roof. The D side exposure suffered moderate damage.
