Engine 4 arrived to find someone who attempted to ride his bicycle across the pond at the park near the Elm Street side.

The pond itself isn’t very deep, no more than four feet I would say. The man was unable to pull himself up out of the hole. Firefighters threw a rope to him. He was eventually able to boost himself out of the hole and grab the rope.

Rescue 1 and Engine 16 then arrived with members in cold water rescue suits. Since the man was already removed from the pond at the time member in the suits went out to retrieve the bicycle.

He was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation.

News Channel 7 WHDH even came out and did a little story on it. Here is the link from the story.
